Virgin Festival

We arrived around 3 pm. The sun was blaring but the wind was cool. We found a nice convenient spot right next to a church close to the venue. I spilt my Pepsi as I stepped out of the car and felt like it might be a bad omen of things to come…. oh how wrong I was… We arrived at the main gate I got waved right through, and found my way to the WRNR tent. The crowds were massive, She And Him had just taken the stage and sounded great! The day went by pretty fast. We saw tons of people and my boss was pretty awesome as usual and gave us all the hook-ups some lowly promotions people could hope for.
The artists were mostly great. LiL Wayne probably put on the worst performance of the decade. He went on 45 minutes late, and the music he sang sounded awful. It was kind of funny to watch thousands of people fleeing from the stage. The Black Keys put on a great show. As did Bob Dylan. But I’d have to say that Nine Inch Nails was unparalleled and definitely was the highlite of the festival for me. I was blown away at the sheer scope of talent. Kanye was pretty lame and I didn’t see what was so exciting about his stage… (everyone kept talking about it).
So all around it was pretty spectacular and the price was right — free. I’d have to say that the VIP lounge was a little overrated and definitely overpriced. I am glad I didn’t pay for it. The only benefit was the sweet center stage access that let you get a great view of the stage and plenty of elbow room.
All together I look forward to next year, I can’t wait to see the line up!
